Jason's New Ride!

We have been a one car family for almost two years. I had a Nissan Sentra that I drove all through college that was starting to break down and was leaking oil like a faucet. We took it to Carmax in November of 2007. We had just moved to our new house and we thought that it would be easy enough for me to drive Jason to work for awhile until we could get something more reliable. That was the plan and then in September 2008 he was transferred to Bountiful. His pay was also cut a bit so we put off buying a car then and instead he has been taking Trax and Frontrunner to work. Walking or riding his bike for about 2miles to and from work to the station and then home from the station. We live really close to Trax and this has worked out okay, but it began to take its toll. Jason was getting up and leaving by 7am and not getting home until 630pm. He took the car whenever he could, but more often then not he was taking the train.

Jason's parents were out of town for two weeks at the beginning of the month and they were kind enough to let Jason borrow their car while they were gone. We were so spoiled that we finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a new car. We found one for a great deal and just got it today. It's nothing fancy, but it is pretty cute. Jason is so excited!! He was almost like a 16 year-old getting his first car for the first time. I am a little giddy as well as I will see him a lot more. Props to my hubby for dealing with a heck of a commute when we probably could have done this earlier. I love him.

Fourth of July!

The parade.

A bouncy slide.

Ring around the head.

Running through sprinklers.

I am late in posting this, but it is better late than never! We had a fun fourth. Jason's parents were out of town so we spent the day with my family. We hit the parade in the morning and did the usual breakfast at Village Inn afterward. Jack loved the parade and had a blast running out and getting candy. He got enough candy that it could have passed for Halloween. Jason ran the 5k and had a good time doing that. I wish I could have joined him. He took off about a minute off of his time and finished in about 24 min. He was really excited.

After the morning festivities, we came home and relaxed for a bit and then headed over to the Carnival that they had at the park. Jack loved the bouncy houses and slides but was a little tired at the end of it all. Plus, we were melting it was so hot. We decided that next year we are swimming in the afternoon. That night, we grabbed traditional KFC and went to the park with my parents, sister and grandparents. A good time was had by all, except maybe my 91 year old grandpa who took a tumble down the hill. No worries, he is okay! He has the tuck and roll down. Jack loved playing with Grandpa and the light-up sticks that Jason bought him. They were playing "ring around the head" and at one point Jack tossed the ring and it totally went around a guys head at the next blanket over. It was someone that I knew, so that made it even funnier. Jack loved the fireworks and this was the first year that they didn't freak him out. Our dog was not so lucky. We came home from everything at about 11 and she was no where to be seen. She totally dug or jumped her way out of our yard and took off. She is a smartie though and found her way home and was there when we woke up. We also roasted hot dogs and marshmallows in my dad's fire-pit at some point during the weekend and watched something about Michael Jackson on TV. That was really fun as well.

I'd say it was a success! I join the masses in saying I LOVE THE FOURTH OF JULY!

More Birthday Pictures from the Family Party....

His cake and singing.

His fighting face.

He flew off the couch and landed perfectly like this. It was sooo cute.

I love him.

Jack Turns 3!!!

His presents from Mom and Dad.

The Decorations or as Jack says, "My birthday house."

Jack turned 3 on July 7th. It was a really fun week and he had a lot of fun. It was the first bday that he knew it was something special and that he was the reason it was special. We didn't really do anything very exciting on his actual bday. Jason and I did decorate the main floor of our house for him and he got a chocolate muffin for breakfast. We also gave him his presents (transformers, a car mat, and some cars). We then went to the gym and then the pool with some of his friends. He looooves the pool. That night, Jason and I took him to Leatherby's for ice cream and such. I think he pretty much thought that was the best place ever.

The next night we had family over for cake and he got some more presents. The cutest thing was when he was pretending to fly around in the cape that he got from his friend Belle. Overall, it was a low-key bday, but so fun. It was fun to devote a day to our boy and remember back three years to when we were blessed with him.

Jack-- You are the cutest three year old that I know. I wouldn't know what to do without you. You brighten everything you are a part of and our family is no different. At three years old, you are into:

-- Buzz and Woody
-- All your other shows.
-- Flying around and webbing people.
-- Helping daddy with everything and being a big boy.
-- Swimming
-- Reading, but telling me that I have to do the words.
-- Coloring and your church class.
-- Transformers
-- Your friends
-- Your grandpas and boys in general.
-- The minute you turned 3 you learned how to get out of your bed and we got a nightly visitor for about week. You seem over that now.
-- You are very independent and want to do a lot of things on your own, but still say that you are too little for some things.
-- You are learning to dress yourself.
-- Dad says you are just the cutest thing in the world and I agree.

We loooove you to pieces and are so blessed to have you in our family. I am so excited to see you as a big brother, (he told me the other day to take the baby out so that he could play with it.) You constantly are kind and loving to everyone you meet and everyone tells me that you are the nicest and most polite boy that they know. I love being your mommy!! Happy Bday!!

Love, Mom (PS: Also, since you turned three, you have turned into a little sass, but it kinda makes you cuter. I have to remind myself to really discipline you!)

Kids...

I have had a few funny experiences with kids today. First, I went to a shower for my sister who is getting married on August 6th. As we pulled up to her friends house, her little neighbor girls were outside with a box of stuff, obviously selling things. So, I got out of the car and they ran up and said, "Do you want to buy anything from us?" I asked them what they were selling and they said,"Paper and stuff..." It was basically paper shapes and snowflakes etc. Anyway, I told that I had seven cents. They took the money and said thanks... started to walk away but then I asked what that would buy me. One girl says, "Nothing much..." and then the littlest girl said..."I think that is enough for this..." and she hands me a sheet of plain white paper with scribbles all over it. There may have been some sort of smiley face on it as well. It was SOOO funny. So, I paid seven cents for a piece of art.

Another story... I called Jack a young whippersnapper today and he said..."Mom, I am NOT a crab! I don't have snappers." :) HAHA! I love three year olds!

Baby #2 Is FINALLY on It's Way!!!!!!

It's not a big secret that we have been trying to get pregnant for about a year and it has FINALLY happened! I don't know why we had such problems, but it was worth it to finally be pregnant. I have been working with a really good fertility doctor and after months of tests and a miscarriage type thing (more like a chemical pregnancy in January) Clomid came to my rescue. It has been a hard year going through this, but I have learned a lot about myself as a person and myself as a mom. It really made me realize how precious kids are and when I thought about Jack not having siblings my heart would break! I knew that it would happen, but it is frustrating waiting for it all the same.

Anyway, this pregnancy is pretty eventful compared with my first... Because I was on Clomid, I have to go in every week and get progesterone shots as a precaution. I don't notice much doing that, except I am VERY irritable the next day (and your butt gets sore). I have also already had an ultrasound!! YAY! I was a little worried because of all the different things with this pregnancy, but it was such a relief to go in and see the little thing. My doc said that everything looked great and the baby is measuring perfectly. We were able to see its heart beating away and see the start of the brain and everything. We are going to try to scan it in soon. I am almost 10 weeks and due on Valentines Day. I have been feeling pretty good, tired and a little queasy if I don't eat, but I know it could be MUCH worse so I am thankful! This pregnancy is much different then my last for the main reason that I don't have time to figure out exactly the stage that the baby is at like I did with Jack... I sometimes don't even remember that I am pregnant because I am so busy with Jack so hopefully it will go by fast! February seems a long way away. I am so thankful for the baby that will soon be with us. I am a little nervous about Jack and how he will handle it. I know I have read on other blogs that moms always worry and feel sad about losing their one on one time with their first, but Jack is such a good kid and I know that it will be worth it for him to have a sibling.

Sorry for the ramble... We are sooo excited! Stay tuned to find out the gender. I don't have the self control of some people! Also, posts about the 4th and Jack's bday on their way.
