Summer Nights

We really went from winter to summer overnight. It has been blazing hot these past couple of days. I'm not really complaining too much, but we have already had to turn on our air conditioner and it is too hot to play out in the sun so I am looking forward to the cool down that we have coming over the next few days. Last night we were watering the lawn and Jack came out to enjoy the first warm "summer" night of the year. He had a great time, running through the sprinkler and catching bugs. He is so funny with those bugs. He just sits and watches for them and gets so excited when he sees one. We caught a few potato bugs and put them in a cup and when he was going to bed he said...
"Bugs in bed...?" I looked at him and before I could tell him that wasnt a good idea, he seemed to come to that realization himself because he looked confused and a little nervous (like I was really going to put the bug in bed with him) and he said, "No... no bugs in bed." It was cute! I am excited for the many warm nights to come!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful hubby! Jason had his birthday on Saturday, and I feel a little guilty for how low key it was. He should have taken Friday off of work to make it more eventful. Jack and I tried to make it somewhat special though, on the little money that we had. We bought Jason some badly needed running shoes a couple of weeks ago and he loves them. He says that he feels like he is running in the clouds, they are so soft. Shoes make all the difference. So, that was his big present from me and Jack, but we (I) wanted to do a little something so on Friday we went and bought a bunch of balloons and decorated the house (outside and inside) and made a cake. Refer to my post a few weeks ago about cooking and you will know that this was no small feat and Jason was very surprised to get a homemade cake. The cake turned out beautifully, until it came to frosting. I made two mistakes in that department. First, I let Jack help me, and second I forgot how to frost a cake so it turned into quite the mess, but still tasty. On Saturday, we worked out and did a few chores and then took Jack to the park. Our friends, Shane and Celeste, then took us to Leatherbys for dinner. YUM. Thanks guys! Sunday was spent with family and good food. I think overall Jason had a good birthday. My mom got us tickets to see American Idol on tour in July. YAY!
I love you baby! Happy 31! You are the best and I can't wait to celebrate all your birthdays with you!

Happy Mothers Day!!

Dear Jack,
After Mothers Day yesterday, I just had to take a minute and jot down my thoughts on you since my heart is so full of love. You are such a great little boy! I don't know how I even deserve to be your mommy. (Since it is easier to organize my thoughts, the rest will be in bullet point)
- You are smart, happy, funny and so full of life
- I love hearing you talk
- I love that you love "Dancing with the Stars"
- I love to see you dance
- I love rocking you at night
- I love how friendly and comfortable you are with everyone
- I love seeing you learn new things, I can just see your mind working
- I love to see you on the slides at the park
- I love your hugs and kisses
- I love hearing you say "Please" and "Thank you"
- You love the moon, the kitty, your "B", Nemo, Elmo, the park, eating, talking, balloons, counting, helping with anything, dogs, rocking with mom or dad, your baths, dancing, running, popcorn, corn on the cob, juice, balls, hoops, coloring, etc...

The list could go on. I am just so thankful to be your mommy and am excited for the years to come!

I love you.

Love, Mom

PS: I also love your daddy! Thanks for the massage! He is the best friend and daddy I could ask for.

I Can Cook! It's A Miracle!

Those of you who know me, know that I do NOT cook. I don't like cooking, I hate eating dinner and doing dishes... so that has always amounted to me not cooking at all, unless the meal comes in a package and all I have to do is defrost or warm it up.
In our five years of marriage, Jason has been very understanding of this and has not asked that I ever cook him a meal. He still doesn't, but now that Jack is almost two I can see the importance of family meals and good nutrition and so I am now forced to open a cookbook and try some things out. I have tried a few things here and there, but tonight was my first REAL success... I actually made MEATLOAF! That is like a staple of childhood, and a real sign of motherhood as far as I am concerned. I actually looked up the ingredients, put them all together in a bowl and then let the meatloaf cook for 1 hour. If I can make meatloaf, I can do anything! :) It was great tasting, low fat (recipe from Body For Life Cookbook), and really easy. Hooray for me!!
Also, a pic from Jack putting the clean sheets on our bed. He loves pillows!
