Spudman 2008
Jason is officially a triathlete! He competed in the Spudman Triathlon this weekend in Burley, Idaho. We had a great, wonderful time! We went up with some friends (two of whom were competing as well, Bryan and Kari) and stayed at the fab Best Western. Burley is a hole, but our hotel was nice. It had a awesome pool that the kiddies loved and lots of grass for them to play in. All three of our athletes did great, but I am especially proud of Jason. He has been training really hard the last month and all of his hard work paid off. He finished the race in 2hr 40min. He finished the swim in 22 min (1 mile), the bike in 1hr 10min (26 miles) and the run in 1hr 41sec (6.2 miles). He felt the best on the bike... he was cruising at 21 mph. The swim and the run were good and he feels wonderful about his time. It was great to see him cross that line. Kari and Bryan also did fabulous! It was so fun to support them in this. I was sad that I wasn't doing it, but Kari talked me into taking my turn in September. So we'll see how that goes.
I have to say that we did have a sad event happen during the race. A 60 year old man died during the swim. It was so sad and shocking, apparently he had a heart attack but was in really good shape. They cancelled the last group of swimmers because they were looking for him. For awhile we were worried about Bryan (he was really nervous about his swim), and we had not seen him on the route and it is a feeling and a worry that I wouldn't wish on anyone. When we finally saw him we almost collapsed with relief! My heart goes out to this mans family.
After the race, we headed back to our hotel and hung out at the pool all afternoon. Jack had a great time playing with all the kids and that night the older kids babysat the younger ones so that the adults could go out for a 3 hr dinner. It was a blast! Jason's family came up to support him so on Sunday we met them for breakfast. It was a awesome weekend! We can't wait to go back next year!

Might as well join the crowd...
I have seen this on so many blogs lately... although I have not played along yet... I thought it would be fun to add it to my blog and see who is reading my blog and what they have to say!
Here are the rules:
1. Add a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you.
I am excited to walk down memory lane. I have to start commenting on people's blogs as well!

Boating... AGAIN!
Yay, we actually got out on the water twice this year. That is better then we have done for the last two or so years. This time, we took my family since Brad and Cindy were out of town. Thanks to them, for letting us use the boat. We had a great time. We went to Jordanelle again, had some lunch and enjoyed the perfect day. We came home and cleaned the boat, had some dinner and crashed! Jack loved it and everyone got a proper amount of sun. We are tired today. Jack slept until about 930. I think that is the latest he has ever slept in his short life. Enjoy the pics!

Happy Birthday Jack!!
My little boy turned 2 today. I just can't believe it. Where has the time gone?? He has grown into such a awesome little kid. To celebrate, we just had a low-key day. When Jack woke up, Jason and I had about 40 balloons waiting for him downstairs. He looked so happy and excited when he turned the corner on the stairs and saw them all. He helped me bake a cake (which turned out better then Jason's, as you can tell) and then he helped me babysit Sadie, my friend Kathie's baby. When Jason got home, we baked our own pizza and Jack was finally able to eat the cake that he had his eye on all day. I was singing "Happy Birthday" to him all day and when you ask him how old he is, he says, "I 2!" It was a great day.
I have been thinking about him a lot lately and it just amazes me how much love I have for him. I truly fall more in love with him everyday! He is so sweet and good natured and just wonderful to have in our home. We are so blessed. I love him more then I can say! Happy Birthday Jack! You are a great, amazing kid and I love you!

Happy 4th of July!
Happy 4th everyone! I love the 4th of July. It just says "Welcome to Summer." This year we had a lot of fun. In the morning, Jason and I got up and ran the 5K in our area. And yeah, I won my age group! :) Seriously?? It was such a surprise and so fun. The downside of that is that someone stole my medal so they are mailing me one. Who steals a medal that doesn't belong to them?? Anyway, you can be sure of a picture when it comes, and I might wear it around town. Who knows? But, that was fun. Jason also did awesome! He hasn't been a very fast runner in the past, but for this race he cruised and finished in 25 min 30 sec. I was so proud to see him cross! It was a great start to the weekend.
After the race, we walked over (our car was blocked by parade festivities) to Village Inn and had breakfast with my family. Jack loved the parade. Next year, we will have to watch the whole thing. We finished the day off with swimming at a neighbors (thanks Steph and Dan) and then fireworks at the park. The fireworks were great and a bunch of people from our neighborhood came and we all sat together. We have a great neighborhood.
On Sat, we went boating with Jason's parents and my bro and sis. It was very nice to get back on the water, since we bascially haven't been since I was pregnant. Jack loved the boat itself, but didn't care so much for the tube. He spent most of the day on the beach with Grandma. We got plenty of sun and can't wait to go again. Shout out to Brad and Cindy... Thanks!
Anyway, we had a great weekend and are looking forward to Jack's 2nd bday tomorrow. Where does the time go??
